Greenside Primary Pupil Wins National Award in ‘Show Racism the Red Card’ Competition

Greenside Primary is celebrating an outstanding achievement as their Year 6 pupil Martha has been selected as a national award winner in the Show Racism the Red Card School Competition 2026. Martha’s creative and impactful artwork impressed a panel of independent judges, earning her an award in the All Ages & Abilities T‑Shirt Category, one of the competition’s key design strands.

This year’s competition saw an incredible 25,000 children from across the country take part, making Martha’s success a truly remarkable accomplishment on a national stage.

Greenside’s Art Teacher, Jill Chesney, shared her pride in Martha’s achievement:

In a competition involving children from all over the country, Martha did so well! She is such a fantastic role model in art club, always helping the younger children and so modest about her abilities!

The Show Racism the Red Card competition encourages pupils to use art, writing and creativity to challenge racism and promote equality—values that align strongly with our Trust’s commitment to inclusion, respect and celebrating diversity. Martha’s success reflects the creativity, empathy and ambition we strive to foster across all our schools.

The entire school community, along with colleagues across our Trust, is incredibly proud of Martha’s dedication, talent and the positive message behind her work. Everyone looks forward to celebrating her achievement at the national awards ceremony.

Congratulations, Martha, on this outstanding national success!
