Honouring Hollie’s Memory: A Lasting Tribute at Buckton Vale

On the first anniversary of the passing of our beloved colleague, Hollie Barker, Buckton Vale Primary came together to celebrate her life and unveil a lasting tribute in her memory. Hollie was an extraordinary person whose kindness, warmth and positivity touched everyone she met. Her radiant smile and genuine compassion left an indelible mark on our school community.

To honour Hollie, a defibrillator has been installed at the school gates, making this life-saving equipment accessible to the entire community. This initiative reflects the deep respect and affection held for Hollie and stands as a meaningful tribute to her legacy.

The defibrillator was generously funded by Hollie’s colleagues at the school, with incredible support from the wider community. We extend heartfelt thanks to Glossopdale Community Defibs, who supplied the cabinet, Dan Capes Electrical, who installed and powered the unit and Buckton Vale staff members Marie and Jackie, whose dedication ensured everything came together seamlessly.

This project is a testament to the strength of community spirit and the love we all share for Hollie. Her memory continues to inspire acts of kindness and care, reminding us of the profound impact one person can have.

Kelly Quinn, Headteacher at Buckton Vale Primary shared during the ceremony:
“There is undeniably a Hollie-shaped space in each of our hearts. This defibrillator is now officially available for use by the local community, installed to provide vital support in the event of a cardiac emergency. It stands as a symbol of Hollie’s generosity and the love she gave so freely.”

Hollie’s legacy will live on through this gift of life-saving equipment, ensuring that her spirit of compassion continues to protect and uplift others.
