St Anne’s Pupils Help Open New Motorway Bridge
Pupils from St Anne’s Primary School were given a special role in the official opening of the newly completed £23 million St Anne’s Road motorway bridge in Denton. Four children took part in the ribbon‑cutting ceremony alongside Reverend Philip Brierley from St Anne’s Church, who led a short blessing of the new structure.
The event marked the end of a three‑year project delivered by National Highways and Tilbury Douglas to replace the previous ageing bridge over the M67. The new bridge meets modern safety standards, improves access for pedestrians and cyclists, and enhances reliability for local journeys.
Throughout the scheme, project teams have engaged with the community, including St Anne’s pupils, providing learning opportunities and supporting local initiatives. We are proud that our pupils were invited to represent the school and wider community at such a significant local milestone.
