World Book Day Celebrated Across our Trust

Across Victorious Academies Trust, pupils and staff came together to celebrate World Book Day with a rich variety of reading‑themed activities, author visits, creative projects and a special book‑themed lunch menu enjoyed in all our schools. The day brought our Trust community together in a shared celebration of books, imagination and the joy of reading.

Throughout our schools, children arrived in pyjamas or costumes as classrooms were transformed into vibrant, story‑inspired spaces. Pupils took part in storytelling sessions, scavenger hunts, reading challenges, creative workshops and activities that encouraged curiosity, confidence and a lifelong love of reading.

Many schools welcomed authors into their classrooms to deepen pupils’ connection with stories. From inspiring livestream events with Michael Rosen at Aldwyn Primary to creative workshops led by a local author at Pinfold Primary, pupils enjoyed meaningful opportunities to learn directly from storytellers. At Adswood Primary, children met author Ian Curran, who delivered an engaging assembly and workshops based on The Owl That Could Only Twit, helping pupils explore themes of identity and being themselves.

Creativity was celebrated widely across the Trust, with children designing book tokens, creating new characters, making worry monsters, sharing favourite stories from home and producing artwork inspired by the books they love. Schools such as Arundale Primary embraced a full day of reading‑themed adventures including Book Character I‑Spy, creative challenges and opportunities for pupils to showcase their imagination.

Across Adswood Primary, Aldwyn Primary, Arundale Primary, Gamesley Primary, Holden Clough Primary, Inspire Academy, Pinfold Primary, St Anne’s Primary (Denton), Wild Bank Primary and Yew Tree Primary, pupils took part in reading‑rich lessons and activities that brought stories to life and strengthened our shared Trust commitment to fostering a love of reading.

Sharing a Love of Books Across Our Trust

World Book Day provided a wonderful opportunity for our schools to come together in a celebration of literacy, wellbeing and creativity. We are incredibly proud of the enthusiasm shown by our pupils and the dedication of staff across all our schools who work tirelessly to inspire a passion for reading.

Together, as one Trust community, we continue to nurture a lifelong love of books — one story at a time.
