Empowering Young People as Wellbeing Ambassadors
We are proud to share that children from 14 schools within our Trust have successfully completed a transformative Wellbeing Ambassador Programme, equipping them with the knowledge and empathy to champion mental health and wellbeing in their school communities.
Building Knowledge and Confidence
Over six weeks, our pupils took part in focused training days covering key topics such as:
- Understanding mental health
- Identifying factors that influence wellbeing
- Recognising signs of mental health challenges
- Learning practical strategies to support themselves and others
The programme culminated in a commitment to fostering safe, supportive school environments where mental health is openly discussed.
Our children told us how much they enjoyed the experience, sharing that they now feel more confident in helping others and understanding their own wellbeing. One pupil said: “It’s nice to know how to help people,” reflecting the compassionate spirit nurtured throughout the programme.
Celebrating Success
To mark their achievements, we hosted a Wellbeing Celebration Event at Dukinfield Town Hall. Ambassadors and their families were joined by:
- Councillor Shibley Alam, Civic Mayor of Tameside
- Karen Burns, our Chief Executive Officer
- Leanne Frankish, our Wellbeing Development Officer
All commended the children for their dedication and leadership.
Words of Praise
Karen Burns shared her pride in the young ambassadors:
“These children are the future of our communities. Their compassion, understanding and willingness to support others is truly inspiring. We are incredibly proud of their achievements and the positive impact they are already making in their schools.”
Councillor Shibley Alam added:
“It was a privilege to attend this celebration and witness the enthusiasm and empathy these young people have shown. Their commitment to wellbeing is a shining example of how we can build kinder, more supportive communities from the ground up.”
Leanne Frankish reflected on the programme:
“The whole programme from start to finish was a reminder that we are creating a cohort of children who will learn how to show empathy, kindness and how to bring joy to others around them. Something that they will carry with them beyond their years with us. The children were such great role models and showed what it truly means to be a kind and thoughtful young person. We are immensely proud of them and their achievements.”
Looking Ahead
The celebration event showcased our children’s learning, creativity and commitment to supporting others. It was a powerful reminder of what can be achieved when young people are empowered to lead with care and understanding.
At our Trust, we continue to champion mental health as a vital part of education, ensuring every child feels supported, heard and valued.
