Holden Clough Pupils Share Their Writing with Real Audiences
At Victorious Academies Trust, we are proud to provide meaningful opportunities that help pupils develop confidence, communication skills and a love of learning. Pupils at Holden Clough Primary have recently been showcasing their writing beyond the classroom through a series of exciting experiences that enabled them to share their work with real audiences.
Year 6 pupils recently visited Broadoak Community Centre, where they read their favourite pieces of writing to around 50 members of the popular Young at Heart group. The children impressed attendees with their confidence, enthusiasm and maturity, while developing valuable speaking and presentation skills.
The visit also provided a wonderful opportunity for pupils and members of the local community to connect, with many attendees having personal links to Holden Clough Primary as former pupils or through family members.
Earlier in the term, Year 5 pupils celebrated their writing achievements with a special publishing party at local café Bean and Bun. The event gave pupils the chance to read extracts from their work, listen to their classmates and celebrate their success as young authors in a real-world setting.
Headteacher Adam Porter said:
“It was fantastic to see the children so engaged and proud of their writing. These experiences give pupils a genuine audience for their work and help to build both confidence and a love of writing.”
Both events demonstrate Holden Clough Primary’s commitment to providing enriching learning experiences that inspire pupils, develop strong communication skills and promote a lifelong enjoyment of writing.
