Victorious Trust schools receive Virtual Sports Awards!

Victorious Academies Trust Schools across Tameside, have been rewarded for their excellent work to keep pupils active, healthy and happy during lock down.

Due to the Covid-19 pandemic the annual Tameside School Sports Partnership awards have changed to ‘virtual’ awards this year and were awarded on Twitter.

Children have been missing out on their weekly PE classes and sport competitions so it’s been great to see all the different ways our staff have been encouraging children to stay active. This has ranged from daily challenges including planking, bicep curls, yoga and much more. It’s been great to see lots of photos and videos that children have shared from home. As if that wasn’t enough, some Trust children have also been taking part in the Dr. Ron Hyde 7 Mile Challenge, which has challenged pupils to run, jog or walk seven miles in their local area during the lock down period.

Poplar Street Primary, Wild Bank Community, Yew Tree Primary School, Arundale Primary and Pinfold Primary Schools all received their awards for engaging pupils with physical activity during lock down, well done! Special personalised mentions go to the following schools:

  • Discovery Academy received their award for their commitment to physical activity for pupils at home, with a special mention to Mr Hopwood!
  • Greenside Primary School received their award for engaging their pupils with physical activity and online challenges, with a special mention to Mr Ellis!
  • Inspire Academy received their award for the combined efforts of Mr Connaghan and Mrs McBurnie for motivating pupils and leading by example with challenges and information.

Huge well done to all pupils, staff and parents involved!
