Greenside Primary Crowned Champions Across Multiple Sports!
Greenside Primary School is celebrating another outstanding sporting achievement after being crowned Greater Manchester Dodgeball Champions.
After battling through the qualifying heats and finals to become Tameside Champions, the Greenside team travelled to Oldham to compete against champions from nine Greater Manchester boroughs. Showing fantastic determination, teamwork and resilience throughout the competition, the pupils won an incredible seven out of eight matches against strong opposition to secure the overall title.
The victory marks the latest success in what has been a remarkable year for sport at Greenside Primary. During 2026, pupils have also been crowned Tameside champions in both lacrosse and basketball, as well as winning the Trust Netball Competition.
There has also been further success on the football field, with the Year 4 football team winning their tournament at Manchester City and the school’s girls’ football team being crowned Emma Toone Cup Champions following a superb 4-0 victory over Greswell Primary School in the final at Hyde United FC.
Played in front of proud parents and family members, the final was another special moment for the school, with the girls producing an outstanding performance to become Tameside Champions.
Greenside’s sporting achievements reflect the school’s continued commitment to providing high-quality PE and enrichment opportunities for all children. Earlier this year, the school was awarded the prestigious Iain Linsdell Award for Commitment to PE and Sport for the third consecutive year.
Alongside competitive success, pupils at Greenside enjoy a wide variety of sporting experiences including Glow Dodgeball, junior parkrun takeovers and access to more than 15 different before and after-school sports clubs each week.
Michael Ellis, PE Lead at Greenside Primary School, said:
“We’re so proud of all our children. Their enthusiasm, teamwork and positive attitude have really stood out and it’s been wonderful to see how much they’ve enjoyed representing Greenside and supporting each other along the way.”
Everyone across the Trust would like to congratulate the pupils and staff at Greenside Primary on their fantastic achievements and continued sporting success.
