Inspire Academy win the Reading Challenge for the fourth year running!
Inspire Academy in Ashton under Lyne, has scooped the Tameside Libraries Summer Reading Challenge award again for the fourth year running! Louise Armstrong, Principal at Inspire Academy part of Victorious Academies Trust said, “ We are delighted to win the Summer Reading Challenge for the fourth year running. Our parents have really got on board again this year supporting the challenge by taking their children to the library and sharing books with them. Encouraging reading opens so many doors for our children. As parents and teachers, we all have the opportunity and responsibility to give our children the very best start in life. Making children readers is a gift we give to them that doesn’t cost anything and doesn’t require a certain level of education. What a magical thing to be able to give to our children! We love reading at Inspire Academy. Our staff model their love for reading all the time in their book talk with children and in their enthusiasm for books in general. Staff share their own favourites and many children attend our reading clubs throughout school as well as all our curriculum learning being underpinned by reading high quality texts and reading as widely as possible.
There’s lots more exciting stuff happening around reading at Inspire, but our main driver will always be that children who read for pleasure and children whose love of books and reading is encouraged from as early as possible, go on to secure the most success in their learning at school and their success in life when they leave us. We are so proud of everyone who completed the Summer Reading Challenge and of all our book lovers!”
Cllr Sangita Patel, Tameside Council’s assistant executive member for culture, heritage and digital exclusivity, said “Reading is important both for learning and leisure, so I am delighted to see so many primary schools working in partnership with Tameside Libraries to promote reading through the summer reading challenge which proves so popular each year. Inspire Academy have done their best to encourage as many children as possible to enjoy books of all kinds and they should be very proud to have achieved the best results.”
