Mayor gives Art Awards to Greenside Primary pupils
Greenside Primary School, Droylsden hosted their very own Arts Award Presentation on Wednesday 29 November 2023 with the Civic Mayor of Tameside Councillor Tafheen Sharif, plus local ward councillor, councillor Anne Holland in attendance.
The event celebrated the hard work of their Sunflower class pupils who had undertaken lots of learning which has resulted in them achieving their Arts Award Discover.
Kim Hodgson, Assistant Headteacher at Greenside Primary, part of Victorious Academies Trust said, “The pupils worked with the topic selected ‘Keeping Safe’ as we felt as a school this was key learning for our children. The activities supported the learning excellently and embedded the information the children needed to know. All children were focused and enjoyed every aspect of the sessions. Their confidence, as well as their art skills grew with each lesson and by the end the progress was evident. Each and every child was involved in the lesson, taking particular notice of individuals strengths and talents. The whole experience has been one of positivity, not only for the children but for all the staff at Greenside. It has been a joy seeing the children work so hard each week and produce such excellent results.”
The Arts Award is vital in supporting young people to develop as artists and arts leaders in their communities and Tameside is committed to helping young people achieve their goals in this area by providing opportunities and support for them to flourish and develop within their chosen artistic pathway.
The Arts Award is facilitated through the support of both Tameside Councils Cultural and Community Safety Services – who support and works to improve young people’s lives by increasing opportunities for active participation in arts, culture, and creative learning – through the Arts Council England.
