Claire Robinson Awarded British Empire Medal in King’s Birthday Honours
We are incredibly proud to announce that Claire Robinson, Kitchen Manager at Buckton Vale Primary School, has been awarded the British Empire Medal (BEM) in the King’s Birthday Honours.
Claire started her fostering journey four years ago as a kinship carer for her nieces alongside her own three children.
Right from the start of the process, Claire was totally child-focused, taking time to understand what the role would entail, what support she would need, and how best she could meet her nieces’ needs.
Claire was a dedicated carer and committed advocate for her nieces, recognising their sibling bond as well as their important place within her family. The children thrived in her care, responding positively to being part of a loving, stable family where they felt safe and secure.
Claire subsequently secured a Special Guardianship Order for both children in May 2025, enabling her to provide a long-term home for her nieces as part of her family.
Throughout the process, she remained firmly focused on the children’s needs, taking time to understand the role, access the support available and ensure that she could provide the best possible care.
Speaking about the award, Claire said:
“I was over the moon to be given this special honour. Seeing my nieces grow in confidence, happiness and security has been the greatest reward, and I am incredibly proud of the young people they are becoming. Kinship care and fostering can make a life-changing difference for children, giving them the love, stability and opportunities they deserve. At a time when more foster carers are needed than ever, I hope my experience encourages others to find out more about the support they can provide to children and families in their communities.”
The honour was announced as part of the King’s Birthday Honours list. As part of the recognition, Claire will receive her British Empire Medal at a special ceremony hosted by the Lord Mayor of Manchester and has also been invited to attend a Royal Garden Party at Buckingham Palace this summer, hosted by His Majesty The King and Her Majesty The Queen.
Our Catering Business Officer, Phil Bevan, said:
“This award is amazing recognition for Claire and comes as no surprise to those who know her. Her hard work, resilience and commitment to others are evident every day. The difference she has made to her nieces’ lives is remarkable, and everyone at Buckton Vale Primary School and across Victorious Academies Trust is delighted to see her dedication recognised with this well-deserved honour.”
We extend our heartfelt congratulations to Claire on this outstanding achievement and are incredibly proud of this well-deserved recognition.
