Our Schools Help Keep Tameside Tidy

Pupils from two of our schools have been making a positive difference in their local communities by taking part in litter-picking sessions throughout May.

Children from Aldwyn Primary and Greenside Primary, along with pupils from Gorse Hall Primary, joined clean-up activities across their local neighbourhoods, helping to tackle litter while showing pride in their communities.

Both schools organised their own litter-picking initiatives, making use of equipment provided through Tameside Council’s Litter Hubs, including litter pickers, bags, bin rings and high-visibility vests.

The sessions also supported the Great British Spring Clean campaign, a national initiative encouraging communities to come together to care for their local environment.

We are proud of our pupils for demonstrating responsibility, teamwork and community spirit through activities that help improve the areas around our schools.

Councillor Laura Boyle, Tameside Council Executive Member for Environmental Services and Neighbourhoods, said:

“Absolutely great work from all the schools involved in carrying out their own litter picks, and helping to contribute to a tidier borough. It’s a great way to build good habits and encourage pride and responsibility in their neighbourhoods.

“We really encourage residents to reach out to local Litter Hubs and get involved in hosting litter picks. Little contributions make a great difference.”
